Walter William "Bill" Bradbury, 81, Atwood, died at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 21, 2008 at Mason Health Care and Rehabilitation, Warsaw, with his daughter at his side.

He was born June, 7, 1926, in Atwood, to Howard and Hazel Wright Bradbury. On May 24, 1944, in Atwood, he married Evelyn Clingenpeel, who passed away Aug. 5, 2007.

He worked at Penn Central Railroad for 33 years retiring in 1980. He was a lifetime resident of Atwood.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps and World War II veteran. He was a Purple Heart recipient as a result of an enemy action injury on June 12, 1945.

He was a volunteer firefighter at Atwood for 65 years, a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Warsaw. He graduated with the class of 1944 at Atwood High School. He received the 1992 Fire Service Award from the Kosciusko Firemen's Association. He was a life member of the Indiana Volunteer Firemen's Association Inc. He received the Atwood Fireman of the year in 1977.

Surviving are a daughter, Sue (and spouse Lanny) Lane; a grandson Michael (and spouse Kristie) Lane, Warsaw, six great-grandchildren, Eric, Kristin, Laurin, Zachary, Jordan and Connor Lane; two brothers, Roy (and spouse Jean) Bradbury, Warsaw and Jack (and spouse Sandy) Bradbury, Waukegan, Ill. and a sister, Nancy Richards, Bensonville, Ill. He was preceded in death by a brother James Bradbury who passed away July 8, 1992.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Denny Bollenbacher officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
