He was born June 21, 1924, in Kokomo, to I.W. and Francis Wagoner Martin. On Nov. 5, 1946, at the Church of Transfiguration, New York City, N.Y., he married Kathleen McColley, who died June 2, 2005.
He was a World War II veteran, serving with the 31st Special Services Company, 634th Sp Sv Platoon, Aleutian Islands, Alaska. Living most of his life in the Warsaw area, he was a controller at Creighton Brothers, Warsaw, for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He graduated from North Webster High School in 1942 as senior class president. He was a member of Warsaw Masonic Lodge F&AM 73 for 60 years, and Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine, both in Fort Wayne.
Surviving are a daughter, Colleen (and spouse Patrick) Valentine, Midland, Ga.; a son, Todd (and spouse Margaret) Martin, Ocala, Fla.; two grandsons, Todd (and spouse Marilyn) Valentine, Seattle, Wash., and Ryan Valentine, Midland, Ga.; three great-grandsons: Perry Valentine, Midland, and Parker and Nicholas Valentine, Seattle, Wash.; a great-granddaughter, Emma Valentine, Midland; a sister, Carol (and spouse Richard) Sand, Arizona; a brother, Joe (and spouse Sharon) Martin, Englewood, Fla.; longtime friends: Doug Hoffer, Gertrude Smythe and Duane and Beth Huffer; and beloved dog, Frauli.
A graveside service will be at noon Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126.
Calling is from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
