Walter Blackburn Sr., 72, of Warsaw, died at 6:22 p.m. April 12, 2009, in his residence.

He was born April 22, 1936, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Elbert and Liza Skeens Blackburn. On Aug. 19, 1958, in West Prestonsburg, Ky., he married Loretta Powers, who survives.

Living in Warsaw since 1959, he retired from Flexsteel, New Paris, in August 2005, and was a member of Early Apostolic Bible Training Center, Claypool.

Also surviving are three daughters: Mary (and spouse Agustin) Acosta, Kendallville; Patsy Howard, Warsaw; and Sherry (and spouse Randy) Pridemore, Scottsville, Ky.; a son, Walter (and spouse Creassia) Blackburn Jr., Mentone; a sister, Lily Johnson, Trotwood, Ohio; a brother, John Blackburn, Nappanee; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Early Apostolic Bible Training Center, Claypool, with Pastor Dean Ealey officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake.

Calling is from 2 p.m. today until the time of service Thursday at the church.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
