Wallace "Wally" Huffman, 89, of Kosciusko County, died at 12:35 p.m Jan. 11, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

He was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Oswego, to LeRoy and Blanche Meek Huffman. On Jan. 12, 1943, in Nappanee, he married Virginia Pearl Slabaugh, who survives. Huffman died one day short of their 65th wedding anniversary.

A lifetime Kosciusko County resident, he was a rural mail carrier for 35 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church, Leesburg, and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Surviving are a son, Michael LeRoy (and spouse Joan) Huffman, Hudsonville, Mich.; a sister, Elaine Vandermark, Warsaw; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Huffman.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Leesburg United Methodist Church, Leesburg, with the Rev. Mike Heath, Leesburg United Methodist Church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Leesburg Cemetery.

Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
