In this ever-changing world, some things never change!
Brenda Wadkins, a Silver Lake citizen and neighbor of the Silver Lake Town Clerk Angela Glass, continues to publish what I believe are derogatory and misleading letters relating to Glass. Wadkins was the former deputy clerk of Silver Lake, before Glass won the election in 2003. Wadkins was offered to continue her employment as deputy clerk but declined. In my opinion, Glass dodged the silver bullet!
In Wadkins' recent letter, she complains of overbudgeting. Wadkins complains of the budget for trash removal. Wadkins admits trash removal costs are approximately $30,000. The 2008 budget is $36,000. In 2005, Waste Management placed a bid, $50,160. Ameriwaste placed a bid, $34,320. As one can see, these bids are three years old and are comparable with the proposed 2008 budget numbers. Wadkins also complains of added budgeting for the clerk's attorney. Wadkins states, "another attorney to perform the same services as the town attorney." Not true! The town attorney does not represent the clerk.
In Wadkins' recent letter, she expresses concern for aid to the community. My thought, if a person orders multiple reports from the town clerk and can not understand what he/she has requested, this person should ask where the funds are. The truth is, aid still exists!
In Wadkins' recent letter she continues to complain about 2004, 2005. Hello, it's almost 2008! Wadkins' complaints are merely repeats of her former complaints, which were resolved in the favor of Glass. Wadkins attended the Oct. 11, 2005, Silver Lake Town Council meeting. During this meeting, Kackie Tiede Chrapliwy, financial ambassador for the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns, explained "the town's finances were in line, and no funds were or have ever been missing." Chrapliwy also stated, "Angie has done a tremendous job with this software." Wadkins rebukes Chrapliwy's statement, "Well, I want to see it for myself." The Times-Union published the statements from Chrapliwy and Wadkins in October 2005. Pessimists live in the past; optimists live for the future!
In Wadkins' recent article she makes mention of a class D felony. Glass did not commit and has never committed a felony, class D felony or any other class!
Wadkins' recent letter mentioned Glass has been paid $91,103. Wadkins forgot to mention over how many years! For Glass, this is three years, eight months and one week of service. Do you realize many, many people make that amount in one year and don't put up with the lack of respect and the verbal and written abuse that Glass has?
Wadkins has published several letters criticizing Glass yet Wadkins is not on the November ballot.
