Editor, Times-Union:
I am writing in support of Richard Mourdock for the U.S. Senate. Richard Mourdock is a fiscal conservative who will support a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.
Some have accused Richard Mourdock of not being a “compromiser.” Actually I would not be supporting him if I thought he was going to “compromise” with those who want things to go on the Washington way. The Washington way is how we got this huge debt. Please see Larry Wilkinson’s Sept. 10 letter to the editor to see the importance of balancing our budget.
Richard Mourdock has a proven record of helping Indiana balance its budget by earning more than $1.3 billion as state treasurer. Richard Mourdock has returned an average of 10 percent of his office budget each year to the treasury. In Washington, Richard will work the Indiana way by standing up to the big spenders and helping reduce our $16 trillion national debt.
Richard Mourdock’s opponent is trying to come across as a conservative on these financial issues. Joe Donnelley voted for the $700 billion bailout of mega banks known as TARP. Please see Teresa Martin’s Sept. 27 letter to the editor to see his actual voting record of supporting the Washington way as opposed to Mourdock’s Indiana way. If you want more info on Donnelly’s voting record, download the book at freedomworksforamerica.org/candidate/joe-donnelly
As a final note, if Mitt Romney wins the White House, but Harry Reid is still running the Senate, the Indiana common sense way will never get to Romney’s desk.
