He was born March 17, 1917, in Ossian, to Lacy and Rebecca Gibson Grim. On April 4, 1942, in Claypool, he married V. Maxine Bradbury, who died Feb. 4, 2002.
He lived in the Columbia City area until moving to Atwood after marriage. He worked in farming and at Endicott Church Furniture, Hammersly and Reese Security and Arnolt Corp. as a machinist for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a corporal airplane instrument mechanic in the European Theatre with the 394th Bomb Group.
Surviving are a daughter, Cynthia (and spouse Jeffrey) Shelton, Warsaw; a stepdaughter, Shirley Priser, Warsaw; five grandchildren: Kent Coldren, Jeffrey Shelton Jr., James Priser, all of Warsaw; Jack Priser, Bourbon; and Lesa Thomas, Fort Wayne; 11 great-grandchildren: Brandon Coldren, Hanah Ricketts, Sara Priser Larocque, Matthew, Keith, Kari, Stacy, Ian and Jennifer Priser, Michelle Stephenson, Aaron Prater; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Warner, Edwin, Francis and William Grim.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, with Pastor Bryan Koorey officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by members of American Legion Post 49, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 and ARNG.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
