Virginia Mary Smith, 92, of Warsaw, died at 7:16 a.m. Feb. 10, 2008, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born Jan. 17, 1916, in Laramie, Wyo., to Lorin S. and Mae A. Creedon Soper. On. Jan. 25, 1946, in Hawaii, she married Clyde Smith.

She was a homemaker and formerly worked at North American Aviation, Long Beach, Calif., for 20 years, retiring in 1978. She moved to Warsaw from Long Beach eight years ago. She was a WAVE in the U.S. Navy, during World War II, stationed in Hawaii. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was active in the YMCA, Long Beach. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming in 1936.

Surviving are a son, Gregory Smith, Long Beach; two daughters, Christina Marshall, Cerritos, Calif., and Laura Anne Smith, Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren: Sara (and spouse Jimmy) Holland, Santa Monica, Calif.; Matthew Clonginger, Lakewood, Calif.; and Christopher Elder, Cerritos, Calif. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Corsberg and Estelle Grater.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, with Msg. James Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Cypress, Calif.

Calling is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with a rosary service at 5 p.m.
