She was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Miami County, to Homer Croft and Blanche Kelly Spurgeon. She was raised by her mother and step-father, Lawrence Spurgeon. On Oct. 8, 1933, in Akron, she married Garl E. Shank, who died April 9, 2002.
She was a homemaker and operated, along with her husband, Shank's Store, Yellow Creek Lake. She attended Wabash First Church of God, and was a Gilead High School graduate in Miami County.
Surviving are four children: Donna Swihart, Gerald "Bud" Shank and Merl Shank, all of Yellow Creek Lake, and Charles Shank, Wabash; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a grandaughter.
A private service will be at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Roann, with the Rev. Carlton Dahlquist officiating. Burial will be in Roann Community Cemetery.
