He was born March 7, 1946, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Robert and Bureda Clark Stephens. On April 7, 1965, in Pierceton, he married Ruby Bailey, who survives.
Living in Kosciusko County for 48 years, he retired from N&G Gilberts Tree Service and was a member of American Legion, North Webster.
Also surviving are his stepmother, Lexie Stephens, Pierceton; two daughters, Katina (and spouse James) Hughes and Sarah (and spouse Gary) Ousley, all of Pierceton; two sons, Charlie Shepherd and Nathaniel Ray Stephens, both of Pierceton; seven sisters: Cookie (and spouse Bill) Bryant, Faye Campbell and Debra (and spouse Terry) Thompson; Tena (and spouse Brooks) Huffer, all of Warsaw; Rita (and spouse Kenny) Elder and Belva Stephens, all of Pierceton; and Lena (and spouse Joe) Ball, Burket; seven brothers: Ronnie (and spouse Nora) Stephens; Robert Jr. (and spouse Melanie) Stephens; and Danny (and spouse Vicky) Adkins, all of Warsaw; Gary (and spouse Cecelia) Adkins, Milford; and Dean (and spouse Paula) Adkins, Don (and spouse Dian) Adkins and Joe Stephens, all of Pierceton; two granddaughters, Nikkie Shepherd and Keilina Hughes, both of Pierceton; and five grandsons: Dekota and Dustan Jones; Colton Hughes; Charlie Shepherd; and Traven Ousley, all of Pierceton. He was preceded in death by a child, his parents and a sister, Okie Baker.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastors Glenn Hughes, Bob Brown and Ron Konkle officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military rites by members of North Webster American Legion.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
