Violet 'Edelva' Butt

NORTH WEBSTER – Violet “Edelva” Butt, 92, of Syracuse, died at 1:58 p.m. March 10, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.

She was born June 18, 1919, in Syracuse, to Arthur C. and Violet Prentice Kolberg. On Oct. 12, 1940, in Syracuse, she married Frederick R. “Fred” Butt, who died Dec. 25, 1994.

She was a lifetime area resident and graduated in 1938 from Syracuse High School. She was a homemaker and retired as a self-employed interior decorator and cleaning lady. She was a member of the Church of God, Hi Neighbors Club and Goodwill Home Economic Club, all in North Webster.

Surviving are a daughter, Toni (and spouse Roger)  Lemon, Kimmell; a son, Burton (and spouse Hinke) Butt,  Syracuse; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Byrd, Mishawaka; Decima Butt, Syracuse; and Margaret (and spouse Arthur) Poyser, Cromwell; and a brother, Berton Kolberg, Syracuse. She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter and three sisters.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating. Burial will be in North Webster Cemetery, Mock Addition.

Calling is from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
