Village At Winona Schedules Fall Festival On October 18
July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.
WINONA LAKE - The Village at Winona is hosting a day of demonstrations and harvest-time fun at the annual Fall Festival Oct. 18, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All activities are free and open to the public.
Live demonstrations in the artisan court by a blacksmith, wool spinner, tinsmith, basket weaver, wood lathe turner and chain-saw carver will bring these trade crafts of the past back to life.
This is a great opportunity for kids of all ages to learn about the heritage and skills of our forefathers.
Doud's Orchards, from Denver, Ind., will demonstrate old-fashioned cider making using an antique cider press. Apples, apple butter, jams, preserves and kettle corn will be available for purchase.
The Prairie Fire String Band will provide entertainment from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Artisan Pavilion.
October also means baseball, or, in this case, vintage base ball. The Village at Winona Blue Laws will take on the Door Village Prairie Dogs at 2 p.m. on Tabernacle Field. The game will be held according to 1860 rules, which means, among other things, players do not wear gloves and fans (known as cranks) get to help the umpire make calls.
More players and teams are needed for the 2004 season. [[In-content Ad]]
