MENTONE - The Tippecanoe Valley Viking tennis team upped its record to 2-0 with a 3-2 Thursday win over LaVille.

Eric Love, Valley's No. 1 singles player, was the only Viking to win a singles match. He defeated Tony Garrett 7-5, 6-2.

Valley's No. 1 doubles team of Matt Craig and Brandon Holloway defeated Aaron Krizmanich and T.J. Senff 6-1, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3. The Viking No. 2 doubles team, JayDee Parker and Mike Parker, upped their season record to 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Brian Russell and Jason Menting.

Valley blanked LaVille in the junior varsity match. Luke Plank won the No. 1 singles match 6-0 over Dustin Schafer. Jeremy Shambaugh won the No. 2 singles match 6-3 over Ryan Cox. Bryce Gast won by default.

Charlie Manns and Aaron Martin won the only junior varsity match 6-0 in doubles over Tim Conrad and John Costello.

Valley, 2-0, hosts 5-0 Triton on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

At Bourbon, Triton improved its record to 5-0 by winning its third match of the season by a 5-0 score over Whitko.

Triton was hardly tested in any of the matches. Derek Workman won the No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Nate Allen. Cory Monesmith won the No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Brock Rhodes. Jeff Rupe won the No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-0 over Justin Roman.

In doubles action, Triton's No. 1 team of Josh Heck and Philip Reed defeated Barry Waybright and Cory Sleighton 6-4, 6-1. The Trojan No. 2 team of Art Blackmer and Brandon Clauss, both freshmen, defeated the sophomore combination of Nick Hamil and Evan Waybright 6-2, 6-3.

Triton also won all the junior varsity matches to make it a clean sweep. Jason Heckaman defeated Eric Lee 9-8 (8-6). Adam Heckaman downed Nathan Haywood 8-3. Nick Heckaman beat Matt Reed 8-1.

In the only junior varsity doubles match, Schuyler Stutzman and Justin Staublin defeated Evan Waybright and Eric Lee 6-0.

Triton puts its 5-0 record on the line at Tippecanoe Valley (2-0) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Whitko, 0-4, hosts Rochester on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Wawasee also lost the junior varsity match, 4-1. The No. 1 doubles team of Zach Rosen and Kyle Hilgenberg had Wawasee's only win as they defeated Bob Troyer and James Willson.

Wawasee, 0-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference, hosts a triple dual on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Warsaw's tennis team snapped a two-match losing streak Thursday with a conference win over Plymouth. Warsaw is 1-0 in the NLC.

The singles players picked up all the wins for Warsaw, and as in the first match of the season, it came down to Ryan Van Puffelen.

With the teams tied 2-2, Warsaw's Van Puffelen battled Adam Krupp in the last match to be completed. Van Puffelen fell behind 5-1 in the last set but came back to win it in the tiebreaker. Van Puffelen won 1-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-3).

Craig Harman won the No. 1 singles match 6-2, 6-1 over Tim Flory. Matt Howard won the No. 3 singles match 6-2, 7-6 (9-7) over Jeremiah Lauber 6-2, 7-6 (9-7).

Plymouth won the junior varsity match 3-2. David Honneffer was Warsaw's only singles winner, and he beat Brandon Woods 8-0. Warsaw's doubles team of Ryan Kreager and Eric Keller picked up the other Tiger win as they defeated Andy Greene and Mike Adams 8-5. Warsaw's junior varsity team is 2-2.

Huntington won the junior varsity match 3-2. Manchester's Matt Purdy won 8-7 (7-5) at No. 3 singles, while Josh White and Josh Schmucker won 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
