Warsaw Walmart’s video surveillance successfully aided in the arrest of a shoplifter Monday.
Michael V. Binstock, 54, Columbia City, was arrested last night for theft after stealing $1,591 worth of merchandise from Walmart.
The surveillance video from April 7 shows Binstock entering the store after 3 p.m. and walking to the electronics department. He then took the security tags off of three cameras, put them in his coat and left the store. He is then captured on camera coming back the following day and taking another camera.
Binstock came back to Walmart April 11 and did the same thing with two more cameras. He came back April 12 and took the security tag off another camera and a package of Nexium from the pharmacy and left the store.
Binstock returned to Walmart one final time on April 23, being caught on surveillance once again. This time he took a pair of jeans and a portable hard drive from the shelves and then cut the security tag off the hard drive. He then put the items in a Walmart bag and took them to customer service, where he received a gift card for $137.94 for a non-receipt refund.
Warsaw Police Department watched the video surveillance provided by a Walmart employee on April 24.
Binstock was booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a $2,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
