Veterans Day Events Planned Tuesday In County

Many Veterans Day events are planned for Tuesday in Kosciusko County.

A Veterans Day program is open to the public Tuesday beginning at 10:15 a.m. at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, 1350 W. Center St., Warsaw.

Music by the Warsaw Community High School band will be at 10:15 a.m.; an Armed Forces medley will be at 10:40 a.m.; and a welcome will be at 10:45 a.m. by American Legion Post 49 Commander Bruce Knouff.[[In-content Ad]]The colors will be posted by American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1126 Honor Guard.

Tolling of the bells will be at 10:55 a.m.

Chaplain Tom Everett will provide an invocation at 11 a.m.

Commander Knouff will provide remarks and give a Veterans Day speech.

A 21-gun salute and taps will take place.

A free lunch will be provided for all legionnaires immediately following the ceremony.

Veterans Day ceremonies will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pierceton American Legion Post 258, Ind. 13. A carry-in dinner at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Post is open to the public free of charge.

A North Webster American Legion Post 253 Veterans Day ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at North Webster Cemetery.

A ham and beans dinner will be at the post Tuesday from noon until the food is gone and is open to the public. A financial donation is encouraged. Russ Chandler will provide entertainment at the post from 3 to 7 p.m.

Golden Corral, Warsaw, will provide a free meal to veterans Nov. 17 at the restaurant from 5 to 9 p.m.

Another event planned Tuesday open to the public is a veterans display at the Kosciusko County Old Jail Museum, 121 N. Indiana St., Warsaw.

The memorial remembers Lance Cpl. David K. Fribley, U.S. Army Captain Michael T. Fiscus, U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Brock A. Beery and U.S. Army Staff Sgt. James P. Snyder.

The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for people to view the memorial.

The Warsaw Middle School band and choir departments will present its Veterans Day concerts Tuesday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. in the Lakeview Middle School gymnasium.

The concerts will feature the Edgewood Middle School and Lakeview Middle School advanced bands, and Lakeview and Edgewood middle schools' combined choirs.

The bands are under the direction of Tammy Sprunger and Joseph Peloza. The Edgewood choirs are directed by Dan Beam, and the Lakeview choirs are under the direction of Judy Becker. The concerts are free and the public is invited to attend.

The middle school bands and choirs invite all veterans and their families to attend the concerts.
