He was born June 25, 1928, to Arthur H. and Edna R. Young Jackson. On Nov. 15, 1952, he married Joyce Hollenbaugh. On April 9, 1977, he married Jennifer Cain Geiger, who survives.
He graduated from Roanoke High School in 1946. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and served a two-year term. He attended Purdue University from 1948-52. He taught school at Union Township, Wells County; Union Township, Huntington County; and taught agriculture education to service members. He was the Huntington County parole officer from 1960-66, and the Huntington County probation officer from 1966-75. He was also the Huntington County welfare director. He received a master’s degree in psychology from Saint Francis University, and began working as a psychotherapist. He farmed and was a psychologist for a number of years. In 1977, he moved to Muncie for 20 years. He started up Jackson Adult and Child Guidance Clinic, Anderson, in 1979, and then went on to start up clinics in Jay, Blackford, Marion, Grant and Delaware counties. He was a member of Roanoke American Legion since 1946, and a member of the Muncie and Destin, Fla., Elks.
Also surviving are four children, Janis Jackson Yeiter and Jeff, Jerry and Jon Jackson; two stepchildren, Jay Geiger and Carissa Geiger Herzog; seven grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at Roanoke American Legion.
