She was born June 2, 1925, in LeClaire, Iowa, to William and Carrie White.
She lived for many years in North Manchester, where she was manager of Harvey’s and was a stalwart of Women of the Moose.
After moving to Fremont, she opened her own restaurant, the Hitchin’ Post, while also managing the Moose Lodge kitchen.
Until her illness, she most recently lived at Retired Tigers, Warsaw, where she contributed needlework to support the Cheer Guild at Riley Hospital for Children.
Surviving are a daughter, Carrie Turner Rager, Indianapolis; two sons, Michael Turner, Carlsbad, N.M., and F. Patrick Machamer, Bloomington; a sister, Edna Smith, Huntsville, Ala.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and by all of her siblings but one.
A private memorial service is planned.
