Velma F. Spears, 68, of 1990 S. Packerton Road, Warsaw, died at 6:34 p.m. Feb. 6, 2010, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

She was born May 6, 1941, in Monticello, Ky., to Rouff and Bertha Bell Albertson. On April 21, 1997, in Prestonsburg, Ky., she married Douglas Spears, who survives.

A lifetime Warsaw resident, she retired from Bertsch Food Services, Warsaw, and was a hostess for Dalton Foundries, Warsaw. He was a member of Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw.

Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie Holaway, Fort Myers, Fla.; three sisters: Mary (and spouse Ronald) Watson, Sidney; Barb (and spouse Buck) Kreis, Claypool; and Linda (and spouse John) Elliott, Warsaw; a brother, Roger (and spouse Pam) Albertson, Warsaw; a brother-in-law, John Hicks, Sebring, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Michelle (and spouse Doug) Mayhew, Warsaw, and Rhonda Avery, Syracuse; four grandchildren: Ashley Holaway, Fort Myers; Erica Gonzalez, Oak Harbor, Wash.; and Katie and Brody Avery, both of Syracuse; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kayla, Cole and Mya. She was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Hicks.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw, with Pastor Wayne Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw.
