MENTONE – Velma F. Ailer Horn, 96, Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw,  and formerly of Mentone, went home to be with the Lord and joining her husband of 73 years at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 12, 2015, at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Fulton County, to Russell and Blanche Wynn Ailer. On June 28, 1941, in Hamlet, she married Harold E. Horn, who preceded her in death July 10, 2014.
She retired from the USDA as a food inspector. She also had worked for 22 years for Manwaring’s, as well as being a homemaker.
She was a 1937 graduate of Talma High School.  She attended the Riverview Community Church, Tippecanoe. She enjoyed crosswords and cryptograms.  She and her husband enjoyed traveling and wintering in Sebring, Fla.
Surviving are a daughter, Vicki (and spouse Tim) Mikel, Mentone; two sons, Freddie W. (and spouse Debbie) Horn, Cartersville, Ga., and Mickey (and spouse Janice) Horn, Macy; five grandchildren: Anthony, Andrew and Troy Horn, Sarah Christena and Emily White; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Ailer, South Bend, and Phyllis (and spouse Robert) Swanson, Atwood. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie; a grandson, Todd Horn; and a sister, Thelma Peterson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with the Rev. Rodney Ruberg officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
Calling is from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
