He was born May 18, 1924, in Wakarusa, to Lowell and Inah Miller Frederick. On April 3, 1949, he married Mary Helen Walters, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he was a graduate of Bremen High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a life insurance agent in Nappanee for 55 years and was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and Nappanee American Legion and a member and past president of Nappanee Noon Kiwanis. He was a former member of the Nappanee City Council, and he was one of the founders and served on the board of the Nappanee Airport. He was very instrumental in starting the golf course in Nappanee and was a licensed pilot.
Also surviving are a daughter, Cheryl (and spouse Joe) White, Middlebury; a son, Charles Frederick, Nappanee; four grandchildren; and a step-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery with military rites by members of Nappanee American Legion.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
