John and Marjorie Vance, Claypool, will be married 50 years Friday. John Vance and Marjorie Bumbaugh were married April 13, 1957, at Marjorie's home on Center Lake, with the Rev. Holsinger officiating.

John is retired from International Harvester and farming. Marjorie's talents included organist at Titus Funeral Home, organist and vocalist for several local churches, an artist at L.M. Berry Yellow Pages while also being a full-time homemaker.

The couple have six children: Mark (and Sharon) Vance, Leigh Hopkins, Jon (and Pam) Vance, Debbie Reynolds and Shawn Vance, all of Claypol, and Lynn (and John) Gabric, Medaryville; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A surprise gathering of the children and grandchildren was held Easter Sunday at the couple's home in Claypool. They will celebrate privately on their annivesary date.
