Valley Sweeps Caston Comets In Dual Track Meets

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley’s track teams each won a dual meet with Caston on Monday in Death Valley, with the girls taking a 68-50 decision and the boys winning 65-53.
The Lady Vikings swept all three relays and won seven of 12 individual events. The boys won two out of the three relay races, and won six of 11 individual events in which they had an entry.
Next up on the Valley schedule is a Three Rivers Conference meet at Rochester on May 5.

Monday in Lakeville
Lauren Hostrawser had three hits, and Triton came from behind three times to down LaVille 8-7 in a Northern State Conference softball game Monday night.
LaVille scored twice in the bottom of the first, and Triton tied it in its half of the second. The Lady Lancers scored two more in their half of the second, and the Trojans retied it in the third.
The home team reclaimed the lead with a single tally in the third before Triton took a 7-5 lead in the fourth. LaVille then tied it in the bottom of the fourth before the Lady Trojans took the lead for good with one run in the fifth.
Now 5-4 on the season, Triton will host North Miami at 5 p.m. today.

Monday in Middlebury
Maghan Fretz west 4-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs driven in, and Ale Brito had a double and two RBIs as Wawasee came from behind to beat Northridge 4-1.
Amber Lemberg pitched all seven innings for the Lady Warriors, giving up just one run and walking three and striking out five.
Wawasee stays in the Northern Lakes Conference Wednesday when they host Plymouth.

Hanna Yohe was the winning pitcher in Whitko’s 4-3 win over Oak Hill.
Oak Hill came back in the top of the seventh to take the lead but Haley Yohe came up with a double that drove in Maddie Gawthrop and Kennedy Krull for the winning runs,
The Lady Wildcats will be back in action with the first conference game at Manchester Wednesday.

Monday in Rochester
Manchester’s tennis team took to the road on Monday night and earned its third straight shutout victory, 5-0 over Three Rivers Conference foe Rochester.
Senior Claire Barnett started off the winning ways with a victory at No. 3 singles. "Claire wasted no time winning a quick, determined
match. She remained focused, didn't drop a game, and took care of business," said Manchester coach Joel Eichenauer.
The senior duo of Morgan McKee and Marret Metzger won convinceingly. "Morgan and Marret had the style and strategy for success tonight. They excelled in many ways,"  Eichenauer said.
Karly Eichenauer remained undefeated on the season. Eichenauer jumped out to a early 3-0 leads in each set behind strong serves and well placed groundstrokes. She went on to win 6-1, 6-2.
"Karly faced a good opponent tonight who played many nice rallies. Karly used her wide variety of shots to hit many winners to secure the win at No. 2 singles." Joel Eichenauer said.
Meanwhile, Allison Smith controlled the points and really worked her opponent, winning 6-2, 6-2. "Allison is sneaky good. She doesn't overwhelm her opponent in any one way, but wears you down with toughness and consistency," Eichenauer said.
Finally, the No, 1 doubles team of Reilly Ruppert and Leah Brandenburg made it a clean sweep for the Lady Squires."
I thought Reilly really set the tone with super groundstrokes and service returns. Leiah's serve won some easy points and this team keeps improving with each match," said Eichenauer.
Manchester moves to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in TRC play. The Lady Squires will play Saturday in the TRC Individual Tournament at Tippecanoe Valley.

Tristen Atwood had a 41, Mason Germonprez a 42 and McClain Herr a 45 for Wawasee.
