On April 20 and 21, every student in the school corporation, assisted by members of Tippecanoe Valley High School agriculture students, will have the opportunity to plant a pine or hardwood seedling. This is the first step of a multi-year process to expand the forest.

Volunteers with equipment are needed to assist in the preparation of 2,600 holes for planting. The holes must be 8 feet by 10 feet in diameter and 10 feet deep. Skid loaders with an attached auger, tractors with a three-point hitch auger, and similar equipment with operators are needed to complete the hole preparation.

The work is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Friday. Volunteers should report to the south side of the circular parking area south of Tippecanoe Valley Middle School and east of the bus garage, where they will be directed to the work area. Any work not completed Friday will be finished April 18.

Volunteers are asked to indicate their intent to participate by contacting the TVSC Administration Office at 574-353-7741 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Questions may be directed to the same location.[[In-content Ad]]
