Valley Names Top Grads

Tippecanoe Valley High School recently announced its valedictorian and salutatorian for the class of 2009.

Alex Weaver was named valedictorian. He is the son of Tom and Jill Weaver, 938 North CR 650E, Rochester.

Weaver was a member of the cross country and track teams, band, academic team, Peers, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, intramural basketball, FCYLA, National Honors Society, Olive Branch and 6:28 Youth Group.[[In-content Ad]]His awards include Cross Country Most Valuable Runner, cross country regional qualifier, Three Rivers Conference Cross Country Champion, Track Mental Attitude Award, captain of the track team, track regional qualifier, Outstanding Band Member, band officer and National Honors Society vice president.

Weaver will attend Purdue University. He plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Lindsey Franks was named salutatorian. She is the daughter of Keith and Marcella Franks, 4290 West CR 100S, Warsaw.

She was involved with the academic team, art club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, French Club, Kosciusko Endowment Youth Services, National Honor Society, Peers Educating Peers, Peer Facilitators, Salvation Army, Festival of Trees, Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, Grace Village, Crop Walk, First Baptist Church of Mentone, Harrison Center Church and Read Across Kosciusko County.

Her awards include Indiana Academic Super Bowl Award, Indiana Students' 2008 Calendar, Community Service Appreciation Award, National Honor Roll Award, Academic Varsity Letter and Academic Jacket.

She will attend the University of Saint Francis. She plans to major in communications with a minor in psychology.
