By Staff Report-

The United Way of Kosciusko County has been awarded a $203,951 Work2Gether grant from the Indiana Association of United Ways.
Statewide, $5 million is available to support community work in education, financial stability or health, matching local fundraising increases during 2014 and 2015.
Each community designs its own resource development strategy to draw new donors and increases within the grant guidelines. The Indiana Association of United Ways worked with members to design the W2G grant guidelines drawing on traditional strengths that could meet the rigors of program review by Lilly Endowment.
The board of directors of the United Way of Kosciusko County has determined to work on the topic of kindergarten readiness with the W2G grant.
Kindergarten Countdown offers a jump start on skills needed for kindergarten success. The camp is designed for incoming kindergartners with no formal pre-school to attend half days for four weeks.  Currently, it will pilot the second year at Warsaw Community Schools. This grant will allow United Way of Kosciusko to expand its efforts to include Wawasee and Tippecanoe Valley.
According to the press release from United Way, “We have also begun conversations with neighboring United Ways to propose a collaborative approach in developing Kindergarten Countdown in the counties of Whitley, Fulton and Marshall in an effort to serve children who reside in Kosciusko County but attend their schools.”
The release also states, “We are pleased to announce our first donation for the local match. It was gifted by Old National Bank, formerly Tower Bank.”
John Warren, Old National Bank market president, stated, “Tower Bank’s commitment to our communities continues with Old National Bank as we believe caring for our clients means being an active and dynamic partner in the communities we serve.
“The Old National Foundation Grants and Sponsorships program enables us to support organizations like United Way of Kosciusko County that focus on education, income (financial stability) and improving the overall health of our residents.”[[In-content Ad]]
