By Staff Report-

Activities are underway for the United Way of Kosciusko County 2012 Campaign.

The goal for this year’s annual fund drive has been established at $2.18 million. It is a target for the campaign cabinet. The involvement of existing partners and new participating businesses will make every attempt so the goal can be reached.

This year, in conjunction with the 2012 campaign, its funding growth could literally double the investment in Kosciusko County. The Indiana Association of United Ways has offered local United Ways the INvest 1213 grant. This is a matching incentive for new dollars up to $202,232 for the community.

The Pacesetters for this year will be running their campaigns throughout August. They are Grace College and Seminary, Lake City Bank, Maple Leaf Farms, Martin’s Super Market and Orange Dental Group. These companies have been hard at work planning campaigns for United Way. Each of these companies have put together a team of internal leaders to execute their annual fund drive plan designed especially for their employees.

Lake City Bank has been in Warsaw since 1872 with 43 total branches. Everett Nifong is the 2012 United Way general campaign chair and felt this was a good time for Lake City Bank to be a Pacesetter.

The company is going to kick-off its campaign during Warsaw’s First Friday event Friday with a cash machine for participants to grab cash for United Way and for a chance to win $100 and other prizes. Lake City Bank also contributes a corporate gift as they have been a strong supporter of United Way and sees the need to give back to the community.

All Martin’s Super Markets are running their internal campaigns throughout August. The Martin’s employees will be joined by their corporation in making gifts to the organization. This is the second year that Warsaw Martin’s has participated in the campaign.

Maple Leaf Farms has been a part of the community for more than 54 years. It recently purchased and renovated the former Leesburg Elementary School and it now serves as their world headquarters.

The internal campaign involves many fun activities for employees to participate in. Several items are being raffled as part of a silent auction and all proceeds will go to the United Way of Kosciusko County. Maple Leaf Farms also contributes a corporate gift to show once again the organization and employees know how to “Live United.”

Grace College and Seminary is celebrating its 75th year.

In addition to being involved in the campaign, Grace offers partnership in two United Way of Kosciusko County initiatives – The Day of Caring and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. Grace College & Seminary recognized the needs in the community, wanted to make a difference and stepped forward to be a 2012 Pacesetter.

Orange Dental Group is new to the Warsaw community, but not new to the idea of giving back.

Dr. Christiaan Willig’s office is known for family friendly dentistry both here and in the Elkhart-based office. They want to send a message to the employees to embrace a culture of giving.

Its campaign will begin with kick-off breakfast encouraging employees to learn about their local United Way.

In addition to the Pacesetter company activities, the annual Corporate Dodgeball event sponsored by The Bowen Center will be Tuesday at Lakeview Middle School with all proceeds going to the local United Way.

United Way of Kosciusko County thanked the Bowen Center and its partners for bringing this event to the community for the eighth year in a row.

The annual campaign is a tool that the United Way of Kosciusko County uses to drive change in our community. The 2012 campaign is more important than ever as United Way tries to positively impact the county in the areas of education, income and health, and earn the matching grant dollars.
