Two Suspects to be Charged in Vehicle Break-ins

SILVER LAKE – The Silver Lake Police Department has targeted two suspects in a string of vehicle break-ins.

Town Marshal Craig Hollopeter said today the department’s investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins reported early Tuesday along Edgewater and Roosevelt streets is “solved,” and the charges will be forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office against two suspects.

Hollopeter would not release the identities of the two suspects, saying the investigation is “ongoing.”

Early Tuesday, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Dept. spokesman said sheriff’s deputies were working 17 to 20 vehicle break-ins along Edgewater and Roosevelt streets. Edgewater and Roosevelt are north-south avenues which hug the lake on the town’s west side.

What was taken from each vehicle, or if any sustained damage, was not reported.

During the investigation, which included K-9s tracking the alleged thieves’ paths, the sheriff’s department handed the case over to the Silver Lake police.

Today, Hollopeter said his department has only 12 reported break-ins, but added he has recovered property that does not have victims tied to it, so that number could rise.

The details of the break-ins were still not released.[[In-content Ad]]
