Two Men Arrested after Making Fast Food Getaway

A duo from South Bend and Mishawaka were arrested early Sunday morning after burglarizing three North Detroit street fast food restaurants and a gas station.
Nicholas L. Cline, 24, Mishawaka, and Jason A. Whetstone, 29, South Bend, are each facing three counts of burglary, a class C felony, and three counts of theft, a class D felony.
A Warsaw parks employee radioed police after observing a suspicious vehicle leave from behind the new Mobil Mart on Detroit Street.
Warsaw Police stopped the suspect vehicle at NAPA and found the pair with suspicious items in the backseat, including clearly marked food items from Arby’s.
Police arrested the pair about 5:30 Sunday morning, and a search warrant was issued on the vehicle. Officers found a yellow-painted crowbar and sledgehammer inside.
Evidence found at the Arby’s, Subway and Penguin Point on Detroit Street included yellow paint chips and blood droplets.
Surveillance video from Mobil Mart showed a suspect dressed identical to one of the two men arrested.
Cline and Whetstone were both booked into Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 bond.[[In-content Ad]]
