Two In Nappanee Face Arson Charges

At 6:40 a.m., fire crews were dispatched to Graber's Carpet Studios on the 100 block of North Main Street in Nappanee in response to a fire that had broken out.
When crews arrived they discovered the fire was in the stairwell of the business, leading to apartments upstairs.[[In-content Ad]]Crews were able to get all occupants out of the apartments. They worked to put out the fire for more than 12 hours.
After the fire was extinguished, crews were called back at 10:47 p.m. when the fire was rekindled.
Damage to the building was a total loss.
While crews worked to put the fire out, the Nappanee Police Department arrested Joseph L. McCall, 22, of 1200 N. Main St., Apt. 30, Nappanee, and Kimbert G. Crafton, 22, of 402 Walnut St., Nappanee, after receiving several leads.
Both men were charged with arson, a Class A felony, and residential entry, a Class D felony, and are both being held on $200,000 bond in Elkhart County Jail.
Wakarusa, Bremen, Plain Township, New Paris, Foraker, Harrison Township and Milford fire departments all assisted at the scene.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is assisting officers in the investigation.
