Two Held In December Liquor Store Robbery

A Fort Wayne man and a Warsaw woman have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the robbery of a Warsaw business in December.

According to the Warsaw Police Department, Jamie R. Likens, 27, Fort Wayne, and Elizabeth I. Likens, 23, West Channel Road, Warsaw, were reportedly involved in the strong-armed robbery of Service Liquors East on Dec. 7, 2009.[[In-content Ad]]Around 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7, a white man approached Ed Likens, the business owner, as he was leaving the store to make a deposit in the bank. The robber was wearing clothing and a ski hat to mask his identity.

After taking the bank bag from the owner by force, the robber ran south behind the business.

K-9 officers from Warsaw, Winona Lake and Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department tracked the man's trail to a field behind the store, then continued east to the Village Mobile Home Park. The trail stopped behind a mobile home at the park.

Upon further investigation of the robbery, Warsaw Police detectives determined that Jamie and Elizabeth Likens were involved in the crime.

Jamie Likens reportedly took the bank bag from Ed Likens, who is related to him.

Information about the incident was forwarded to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's office, and a Class C felony robbery charge was filed against Jamie Likens.

Jamie Likens was arrested Tuesday by Allen County Police warrant officers and is being held on $50,000 bond. He will be transported to Kosciusko County.

Charges of aiding in a robbery, a Class C felony, have been issued against Elizabeth Likens because she allegedly helped her husband, Jamie Likens, both before and after the robbery.

Detectives have determined the both Jamie and Elizabeth Likens were at a trailer in Village Mobile Home Park before and after the robbery. The mobile home reportedly belongs to one of their relatives.

Elizabeth Likens reportedly is planning to surrender herself to police today at the Kosciusko County Jail. Her bond will be $2,000.

The incident remains under investigations by the Warsaw Police Department.
