Shots rang out on Warsaw’s north side Thursday night, but after it was done few people knew what had happened.

By the end of the night Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Donald McCune arrested Procoro Cuatle for an outstanding warrant for driving while suspended and Alejandro Cuatle for possession of cocaine.

At 9:18 p.m. Thursday, KCSD deputies responded to a report of gun shots fired in Suburban Acres mobile home park, 3699 N. CR 175E, Warsaw.

Upon arrival, McCune was informed that shots were fired near lot 151. The owner of the mobile home in lot 151 yelled at McCune that his home had been shot. McCune later found that there was damage to lot 176 as well. From evidence at the scene it appeared that there were shots fired between two groups of Hispanics. McCune found five spent 12-gauge shotgun shells on the north side of lot 176.

A witness saw a silver jeep in the area and then heard someone say “Now, now, now,” then the witness heard gunshots and the vehicle disappeared. In addition, the witness noted that the jeep had been in the park for the last several days. The witness said she heard one of the male subjects say, “She seen you.”

McCune then spoke with Alejandro Cuatle and Procoro Cuatle at lot 176. According to the police report, neither Alejando or Procoro had any knowledge of who would want to hurt them.

During his investigation, McCune found a black zip-up canvas bag that contained loose change and two small plastic bags with the corners tied with black rubberbands and a white powder inside of them. Upon further investigation, McCune determined that cocaine was inside the bags.

McCune asked the two who owned the bag and Alejandro stated that he did.

Later McCune realized Procoro used another identity to receive a driver's license. Procoro used Alberto Cuatle’s information to obtain an Indiana driver’s license.

KCSD deputy Rick Oliver went to Green Acres mobile home park and located a Silver Jeep that was parked awkwardly. Oliver spoke with the registered owner, Maria Ortiz. Ortiz stated the Jeep had been outside the mobile home all night. Oliver noted the Jeep had left tracks in the dew on the grass and that the engine was warmer than the air outside. He determined that the car had been driven that night.

The incident is still under investigation by KCSD.[[In-content Ad]]

Sheriff Addressed Issues In The Jail Since Taking Office
Once taking office I knew how important it was going to be to have the right leadership in every division of the office, and the jail was certainly no exception. Upon taking office, I appointed Lt. Kevin Gelbaugh as the jail commander and Chad Marsh as the assistant jail commander, and to say I am proud of all their work and accomplishments would be an understatement.
