Two drug arrests on Thursday were part of ongoing investigations in each case.

Derrick Alan Thompson, 27, of 2510 W. Wilden Ave., Goshen, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:59 a.m. Thursday on an outstanding warrant from Marshall County. Charged with possession of precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine, no bond has been set in his case and no further information is available at this time.

The second case dates back to Feb. 5.

Kosciusko County Drug Task Force officers went to the home of Richard Wayne Barefoot, 54, of 111 EMS W30 Lane, North Webster, Thursday at 10:15 p.m. to serve an outstanding warrant for manufacturing methamphetamine.

Barefoot was present inside the residence Feb. 5 when two other individuals, Vanessa Renee Newman, 37, and Brad Lee Niles Sr., 45, were severely burned during a meth lab explosion. Both Newman and Niles were living with Barefoot at the time. Barefoot was upstairs in the home and was not injured during that incident.

As officers were arresting Barefoot, they located an active "one pot" method methamphetamine lab and immediately contacted the Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab team to secure and remove.

Barefoot is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of felony manufacturing and dealing methamphetamine. His bond was set at $200,000 by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office.
