Twins Earn Top Academic Honor At Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER - Ashleigh and Meghann Kiester have been named co-valedictorians for the Class of 2009 at Manchester Junior-Senior High School.

Ashleigh and Meghann both have perfect 11.0 grade point averages on an 11.0 scale.[[In-content Ad]]Marissa Johnson has been named salutatorian with a 10.963 grade point average.

Ashleigh Ilene Kiester has been active on the Crest yearbook staff all four years serving as sports editor, academic editor and on the Leadership Team her senior year.

She has also been a four-year member of student council and was class president in grades 9 and 10.

Other school activities and sports include Lifesavers, Key Club, National Honor Society, Junior Achievement sixth-grade teacher, volleyball and committees for homecoming, prom and senior trip.

Community activities include 10 years of 4-H, the 4-H Rabbit Club and the Best of the Best Wabash County Art Program.

Honors and awards include MCS Academic Excellence, President's Education Award, Crest Yearbook Outstanding Staff Member, Quill and Scroll Gold Key Yearbook National Contest winner, American Math Competition team winner, National Scholastic Press Association Honor Roll and numerous 4-H achievement awards.

Ashleigh plans to attend the University of Saint Francis to major in graphic design with a concentration in photography and computer graphics with a minor in business. Her goal is to own a graphic design and photography studio with her sister in the future.

Her parents are Mike and Linda Kiester, North Manchester.

Meghann Elizabeth Kiester has been active on the Crest yearbook staff all four years serving as staff photographer, photography editor and Leadership Team member her senior year. She has also been a four-year member of student council including student body vice-president her senior year.

Other activities and sports include Key Club, volleyball, basketball and softball manager, National Honor Society, FFA, Lifesavers, Junior Achievement sixth-grade teacher and committees for homecoming, prom and senior trip.

Community activities include 10 years of 4-H, 4-H Rabbit Club, and Best of the Best Wabash County Art Program.

Honors and awards include MCS Academic Excellence, President's Education Award, Crest Yearbook Outstanding Staff Member and Photographer, Quill and Scroll Gold Key and Sweepstakes winner, National Scholastic Press Association Honor Roll, Honeywell High School Art Exhibit first-place winner and numerous 4-H achievement awards including Grand Champion State Fair Rabbit poster.

Meghann plans to attend the University of Saint Francis to major in graphic design with a concentration in photography and computer graphics with a minor in business. Her goal is to own a graphic design and photography studio with her sister in the future.

Her parents are Mike and Linda Kiester, North Manchester.

Marissa Kaye Johnson has been active in student council all four years, serving as president this year. She has been a drum major in the marching band, copy editor for the Crest yearbook, and the school musicals.

Other activities and sports include softball, Lifesavers, National Honor society and basketball.

Community activities include youth league basketball coach, Sunday school teacher, youth softball camp helper, and assisting at community youth events.

Marissa also has worked part-time and was an office aide during high school.

Honors and awards include Presidential Honor Roll, MCS Academic Excellence, Scholar Athlete, Outstanding Marcher, All County Honorable Mention in softball, Solo and Ensemble Gold award, and Work Ethic Gold Certificate.

Marissa plans to attend Butler University as a Lilly Scholar with a major in pre-law with hopes of becoming a lawyer.

She is the daughter of Kenny and Sharon Shock, and the granddaughter of William and Ruth Johnson, Mt. Vernon, and Maxine Scherschel, Mitchell.
