MENTONE - Pioneer High School proved why it has the No. 1 (A) softball team in the state Tuesday as Serena Day threw a no-hitter in Pioneer's 6-0 win.

Day struck out 19 batters and dominated the Valley hitters. Sabrina Newsome held Pioneer to just six hits, but three errors hurt the Viking cause.

Valley (2-6) will be at Eastern Thursday at 4:45 p.m.

In junior varsity action, Valley won 183-249. Eric Love shot a 43 to lead the 4-1 Vikings.

Valley (4-1) will compete in the Rochester Invitational Saturday at 7:30 a.m.

Ryan Burton had Manchester's top score, a 41.

At Denver, Triton's softball team lost its fourth straight game Tuesday.

Triton's offense managed only two hits against North Miami, singles by Kendra Blackford and Amilia Devros. Melissa Claxon started and took the loss.

Triton, 3-8 overall and 1-2 in the Northern State Conference, hosts Jimtown at 4:45 this afternoon.

Valley 21, Northfield 21

At Wabash, Valley and Northfield played to a deadlock through seven innings Tuesday.

Valley trailed 13-8, but scored 11 runs in the sixth inning to take a big lead. However, Northfield came back with four in the bottom of the sixth and five in the bottom of the seventh to end the game tied.

Valley had just four hits and allowed 19, but still got the tie.

Valley (1-5-1) will be at Eastern Thursday at 6 p.m.

In the game with Warsaw, the Tigers scored three runs in the fourth to break a 5-5 tie and pick up the win. Jake Burnett, Kenny Miller and Joey Potter all had two hits for Triton.

Against Bremen, Scott Shirey had three hits and Tyler Hensley improved to 2-0 on the year as Triton won.

Triton will be at New Prairie Monday at 5 p.m.

At Denver, Triton's softball team lost its fourth straight game Tuesday.

Triton's offense managed only two hits against North Miami, singles by Kendra Blackford and Amilia Devros. Melissa Claxon started and took the loss.

Triton, 3-8 overall and 1-2 in the Northern State Conference, hosts Jimtown at 4:45 this afternoon.

Valley 21, Northfield 21

At Wabash, Valley and Northfield played to a deadlock through seven innings Tuesday.

Valley trailed 13-8, but scored 11 runs in the sixth inning to take a big lead. However, Northfield came back with four in the bottom of the sixth and five in the bottom of the seventh to end the game tied.

Valley had just four hits and allowed 19, but still got the tie.

Valley (1-5-1) will be at Eastern Thursday at 6 p.m.

At South Whitley, Whitko jumped ahead 2-0 after one inning, but Rochester scored at least two runs in five different innings to get the win.

James Miller had a double and two RBIs and Bryan Howard also had a double and two RBIs for Whitko.

Whitko (0-6) will host Churubusco today at 4:30 p.m.

At Bourbon, Warsaw beat Triton Thursday, but the Trojans won Friday against Bremen.

In the game with Warsaw, the Tigers scored three runs in the fourth to break a 5-5 tie and pick up the win. Jake Burnett, Kenny Miller and Joey Potter all had two hits for Triton.

Against Bremen, Scott Shirey had three hits and Tyler Hensley improved to 2-0 on the year as Triton won.

Triton will be at New Prairie Monday at 5 p.m.
