Truex To Run For Re_Election To Board Of COmmissioners

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

Ron Truex, Warsaw, plans to run for re-election to the Middle District seat on the Kosciusko County Council.

Truex, a Republican, is currently finishing his second term on the council. He is the president and general manager of Creighton Brothers and said his experience in agricultural business is an asset he offers the board of commissioners.

"Having spent 38 years involved in agriculture brings a farming view to the zoning issues that come before the commissioners as this community continues to grow," Truex said.

He said zoning and planned growth will continue to be important issues in the next several years. He said the commissioners' management skills will be called upon to ensure the county's farmland is not wasted through irresponsible development.

"We need to make sure that the towns and agricultural land do blend," Truex said. "Making all those work together is a critical part as we move forward."

Truex also said the county budget will continue to be a key issue. "Maintaining a budget that the taxpayers can live with; that's critical," he said.

Truex said he is proud of the job county government has done in recent years to control spending. "Unfortunately, a lot of state mandates are what really caused the taxes to go up," he said.

Truex, 57, lives with his wife Mindy at Crystal Lake. The couple have two daughters, Heather and Tracy, both of Warsaw, and two grandchildren. Truex is a 1968 graduate of Warsaw Community High School and a lifetime Warsaw resident.[[In-content Ad]]
