As a lot of people in the community know, Midas has been sending care packages to our deployed troops for more than a year now. We have sent more than 150 packages of items that our community has generously donated.

I would like to share the following letter that was received Saturday from SGM James Houvener of Winona Lake, currently deployed to Iraq.

Good day Ms. Elliott and Crew at Midas,

Your package of 'Goodies' arrived yesterday. The soldiers in the Brigade Headquarters and I appreciate the items in the package but we really appreciate your demonstration of commitment to the soldiers deployed here to Iraq.

As you have seen on television or heard on radio, the war here has changed. Most Iraqis I have talked to say it has changed for the better; better security, better commerce, etc. It's not perfect and it's not where it should be but it is a major improvement for most in our area. Where the 'bad guys' are life is a bit disrupted and turbulent. But the Iraqis know American soldiers are here to help and committed to a better life for them. They are more frustrated with their government than they are with us.

Again, Thank you for showing your support and I wish you success with the car show this July 27th.

You are all great Americans. May God Bless each of you and your families.

SGM Houvener

Thanks to our community continuously donating items, our military members know we care.

Please remember also, if you know of any military personnel that are currently deployed stop by or call 574-269-4545 with their name and address. We would love to add them to our list and show them how much our community appreciates them!
