Trojans Lead Roundup With NSC Victory At Culver

CULVER — The Triton boys basketball team got a much-needed Northern State Conference win at Class 1A No. 7 Culver Friday night.
Snapping a four-game skid, Triton trailed at the end of every quarter until the last one, winning 64-56.
The victory improves the Trojans to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the NSC, while Culver is now 7-2 and 1-2 in the conference.
Senior Tanner Shepherd definitely did his part in the game, hitting 10 field goals and going 11 of 11 at the free-throw line to score 35 points, while also recording five steals and four assists.
Also for the Trojans, Skyler Reichert netted 13 points.
The TCU Bi-County Tournament is next for Triton, as it travels to New Prairie for the opening game Tuesday night.
The two teams already met earlier this season, with the New Prairie Cougars getting a 56-54 win on their home court.

A tough second quarter proved too much for the Wawasee boys basketball team to overcome Friday night at home against Elkhart Memorial. In the Northern Lakes Conference affair, Memorial led 15-13 after one quarter, but outscored Wawasee 14-5 in the second, giving it enough cushion  to get the 56-46 victory. The loss leaves Wawasee at 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the NLC, while Memorial is now 5-6 and 3-0 in the conference. In the loss, junior Gage Reinhard had 28 points and five rebounds. Up next for Wawasee is tonight’s game at Elkhart Central.

Kylie Mason paced the Lady Trojans with 17 points and Lauren Hostrawser finished with eight points and eight rebounds. The Lady Trojans begin TCU Bi-County Tournament play Tuesday at New Prairie, a team Triton just defeated 67-45 Tuesday.
