ARGOS -ÊWhen Triton volleyball coach Gayle Perry says her team is ready to play, she's not kidding.

After defeating Culver 15-2, 15-1 Thursday, Perry said her team was ready and excited to play. The Trojans proved that Saturday by plowing through Argos (8-24) 15-1, 15-8 in the semifinal match and then pounding South Central (21-11) 15-4, 15-2 in the Argos 1A Sectional championship.

South Central played Triton to a 4-4 tie in the first match before the Trojans began to make their move.

Janell Salisbury broke the tie by serving one point, and then it was all Triton from that point on.

Beth Workman served three points, then Amber Feldman did the same to put Triton up 11-4. Rachel Speicher extened Triton's lead to 13-4 after serving two more points.

Then Salsbury finished the first game with an ace and another point to give Triton the 15-4 win.

But Feldman was the hero of the night. After serving several points in the first game, Feldman stepped to the serving line in the second match and served nine straight points, including an ace, to put Triton up 9-0.

"Amber had three aces and was 18 for 19 serving," said Perry. "Amber has really started to come on in the past two weeks. After our five match slump, we changed the lineup and had two team meetings. I talked at the first one, and the girls talked at the second one. We talked anout the 12 keys to success from Pat Summitt, the coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. Amber took it to heart, and she is really peaking at the end of the season."

After forcing a side out, Triton moved back into the offensive position and Tommi Kreiter stepped in to serve. Kreiter served three more points, giving Triton a 12-0 advantage.

"When we were up 12-0, I glanced over at Kim (Werner, South Central's coach), and I could understand how she was feeling," said Perry. "We've been there before. I could relate to her. Marquette did that to me and my teams many times through the years."

However, South Central's Kristin Busse ruined Triton's shutout but serving up one point.

Several possessions later, Kelly Dunbar served another point for the South Central squad to cut Triton's lead to 12-2.

But South Central had built a hole the could not claw out of. The the duo of Speicher and Salisbury combined for the last three Triton points to give the Trojans their second consecutive sectional championship.

"We are anxious to see who we play in the regional," said Perry. "We won our first sectional since I've been here last year, and now we are starting to build a tradition. We are excited to play in the regional. I think have a good chance, we are playing at that level now."

Triton, 27-9, will host the regional Saturday in Bourbon.
