Triton Elementary School Science Department hosted its annual Science Fair Feb. 21. More than 70 students from fourth through sixth grade worked on their projects since November. Students worked under the supervision of their homeroom teachers to develop inquiry-based, original research experiments. The students presented the outcome of their research at the science fair. Students’ projects were evaluated by Bethel College Education students to appraise the student work. Students were allotted 10 minutes to present the highlights of their research to a judge who scored them on the merits of the work based on a 100-point scale.
The top 15 places at all grade levels were recognized with a science medal. They are: fourth grade, Austin Weissert, Connor Large, Hannah Hooley, Brylon Wareham; fifth grade, Jaela Faulkner, Katie Hochstedler, Breighton Treesh; sixth grade, Clarissa Gonzalez, Madison Sauer, Russel Reichard, Caitlyn Inhen, Whytnie Miller. There were also four medals given for the top four overall best scores from the Bethel judges. The following students will continue to present their research at regional level science fair competitions held in Notre Dame March 22: Jared Bules, sixth grade; Gavin Greer, sixth grade; Macclain Middaugh, fourth grade; Trenton Barnhart, fifth grade; Austin Weissert, honorable mention, fourth grade.[[In-content Ad]]
