Triton Passes Proposed Budget For 2002

By Staff Report-

BOURBON - The Triton School Board passed the proposed 2002 budget unanimously on Wednesday.

The total advertised budget is $8,970,010, which is a 3 percent increase over last year's budget amount. The capital projects fund had the sharpest rise at 9 percent. The rise is due to needed technology and technicians along with basic repairs and maintenance.

A proposal for an Internet filtering system passed unanimously. The filter blocks access to inappropriate Web sites.

"The filters are only good for current objectionable sites," said Ted Chittum, Triton School superintendent. "It always goes back to the supervision of the teacher. That is the best filtering system right there."

The filtering system is a statewide action.
