Triton Names Top Students

Addison Slabaugh has been named the valedictorian for the class of 2010 at Triton Junior-Senior High School, with Bryant Davenport earning the honor of salutatorian.

Slabaugh achieved the all-A honor roll each grading period this year, as well as being selected as this year's top student in the English and business departments. He was presented an engraved clock at the academic awards banquet for reaching the top level of academic points at Triton.

President of the senior class, National Honor Society and student council, Slabaugh developed his leadership skills through Hoosier Boys State, the Lugar Symposium and Kosciusko County's Youth Leadership Academy.[[In-content Ad]]A member of Triton's cross country team and the band, he also has been active in Fellowship of Christian Students, Science Club and with the Pleasant View Bible Church in Warsaw as a worship team member.

Son of Steven and Susan Slabaugh of Bourbon, he will attend Cornell University, where he plans to study applied economics and management.

Davenport currently serves as president of Key Club, secretary of Bettering Every Aspect of Marshall County and secretary of the senior class. A four-year band member and varsity tennis player, Davenport also has been active in Science Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, NHS and FFA. He was selected to attend the Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow's Leaders.

An all-A honor roll certificate recipient for earning all A's for all grading periods of this school year, Davenport also was presented an engraved clock at the awards banquet for his total accumulation of academic points.

Son of Daniel and Pamela Brown from Bourbon, he plans to attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and major in applied biology to study genetics.

Both Slabaugh and Davenport will be the featured speakers at the commencement ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday in the high school gymnasium.
