Members of Triton’s Destination ImagiNation Team in the ‘Project Outreach Challenge: Reel to Real’ recently were selected to receive a $2,500 grant from the Marshall County Community Foundation.
The team, Bourbon Community Awareness, had to define a need within their community, enlist community partners, and document their progress for the Destination ImagiNation program.
This team chose to have a mural painted in town, and sought out a location (Bourbon Subway), got permission from the owner, secured a muralist, and have begun to seek funds to complete their project. As part of their challenge in DI, the students have to write the grant themselves.
The team will present an eight-minute skit, which will include a short movie created by the team documenting how they started their project, where it is at right now, how they plan to complete the project. They also will have to answer panel questions within this time limit at their state competition, which will be held today at Hamilton Southeastern High School.
Bourbon Community Awareness team is one of five Triton Destination ImagiNation teams that will compete at the state tournament. Teams that place first or second in their challenges will advance to the Global Final Tournament in Knoxville, Tenn., in May.[[In-content Ad]]
