Triton Adopts 'Expect The Best' School Motto

The new motto focuses on five components: attendance, positive attitude, listening, the ability to follow directions and to do your individual best.[[In-content Ad]]The board agreed to grant the request of the K.C. Mustangs football team to use the school football field. The Mustangs also were approved to hold a Youth League Football Camp in June.
The board approved the following personnel changes: Mason McIntyre as the ninth-grade class sponsor, maternity leave for Megan Hammond for the day she begins until the end of the school year, and Jamey Viers as the girls junior varsity volunteer softball coach with supervisory duties.
Superintendent Carl Hilling reported on the recent school closings and the possibility of make-up days. There is a chance that the state is considering waiving some of the make-days. Hilling will report back to the board when the determination by the state has been made.
Hilling reported the school consolidation criteria are still in the analysis stage. The state will return the findings to the board when the state finalizes their conclusion.
Hilling and Janet Barker, treasurer, will attend a series of four financial seminars beginning this month. Also, there in an upcoming Indiana School Board Association workshop to be held in Indianapolis Feb. 27th. Hilling requested a list of the possible attendees.
Hilling also reported that all but one lock on the girls' restroom doors have been replaced.
The choir ensemble performed in Valparaiso this month and received 17 gold ratings, six silvers and one bronze. Five students will move on to the state competition.
The wrestling team had seven athletes participate in the regionals. Two athletes qualified to participate in the state match.
The Junior High Science fair will be Tuesday, and all are invited.
A Laptop Grant Parent Meeting is scheduled for March 9-10 for all parents of second-grade students.
