The derailment of a CXS train Tuesday morning in Syracuse caused the closing of Ind. 13 and Huntington St., for four hours.

According to Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello, the accident happened at approximately 11 a.m. as the train was backing into a rail spur to unload materials for National Products.

The wheels of one car slipped off the tracks, and a second car was also partially derailed. It is believed that ice on the tracks might have been the cause, although officials of CSX will conduct an investigation soon, which will include inspection of the rail spur and adjacent track.

No property damage or injuries occurred during the incident. No hazardous materials were involved.

CSX crews took charge of the scene and had the crossing open by 3 p.m.
