Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest On Meth Charge

Elmer W. Steele, 41, of 11585 N. Candy Cane Lane, Cromwell, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County jail for theft, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of legends or precursors to manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a common nuisance. His bond was set at $10,000.[[In-content Ad]]According to a report from the Indiana State Police, Steele reportedly was stopped for having an expired license plate. During the stop, police determined that the sticker on the license plate allegedly had been stolen from another license plate, and Steele was arrested for theft.
A passenger in Steele's vehicle, Kristina Leigh Garman, 24, of 8974 E. Circle Drive, Syracuse, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. She also was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail where she is being held on a $1,000 bond.
After the car was impounded, the Indiana State Police got a search warrant for Steele's residence. The search led police to ingredients commonly used to manufacture methamphetamine, controlled substances and methamphetamine.
The investigation of the incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police.
