Tom Carter, 75, of Warsaw, died at 5:21 p.m. June 28, 2011, in his residence.

He was born Dec. 8, 1935, in Warsaw, to Nick and Olive Bennett Carter. In 1960, in Oregon, he married Lois Ritter.

A lifetime Warsaw resident, he was a machinist at DePuy Inc., Warsaw, retiring in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion John C. Peterson Post 49, Warsaw; Northern Indiana Bluegrass Association; and Warsaw Eagles. He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman First Class in the Korean War from 1952-56.

Surviving are a son, Ted (and spouse Jan) Carter, Leesburg; and a granddaughter, Lara (and spouse John) Ryan, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a sister, LaVerna Bennett, who died July 13, 2011; a brother, Theodore Carter; and his parents.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military rites by members of American Legion Post 49, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126 and Indiana ARNG Honor Guard.

No calling is planned.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, 2290 Provident Court, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
