Tippy Valley Approves $19M Budget

MENTONE -ÊThe Tippecanoe Valley School Board Monday unanimously approved the figures for the 2005-07 budget.

The capital projects funds plan and the bus replacement plan were approved as well.

In total, the 2005-07 budget is $19,018,904.

In another financial move, the school board approved a $150,000 reduction in the capital projects emergency fund. The additional appropriation was originally listed at $400,000.

The board also heard an update on the high school building project. Although the project is three to four weeks behind schedule in some sections, the construction company expects to meet the Oct. 15 deadline for boiler installation. With good weather, the projects are expected to get back on track.

In other business, the board:

• Approved hiring: Teresa Landis, special education teacher at Burket; Hayley Whitaker, kindergarten teacher, Akron; Chad Andrews, academic coach, Tippecanoe Valley High School; Ashley Martin, lifeguard, TVHS; Martha Walther, migrant education; Angela Conner, extended day kindergarten, Mentone; Lissandro Jiminez, custodian, Akron; Shelly Holloway, instructional assistant, TVHS; Rachel Kelley, instructional assistant Tippecanoe Valley Middle School; and Crystal Wieda, instructional assistant, Burket.

• Approved extracurricular assignments for Chuck Rockhill, assistant football coach, TVMS; Jessica Latch, cheerleader sponsor TVMS; and Tracie Cripe, assistant cheerleader sponsor, TVMS.

• Appointed Jill Runkle to the Akron Public Library Board.

• Approved an out-of-state conference National Association for Gifted Children in Salt Lake City, Utah, Nov. 4-7 for Angie Miller, June Yazel and Patricia Burdge.

• Approved the senior trip to Washington, D.C.

• Approved a contract with Kosciusko County Head Start.

Warsaw Battles Back Down 21-0 To Stun NorthWood 35-21
While Warsaw did not get the start that it wanted facing off against Northern Lakes Conference foe NorthWood Friday night, the Tigers certainly got the finish they were looking for. Down 21-0 early in the contest, Warsaw battled back, scoring the last 35 points of the game to pick up a 35-21 win in Nappanee, the school’s first since 2012.
