Tippy Valley Announces Top Three Graduates

MENTONE - Kristin Shoemaker was named valedictorian of Tippecanoe Valley High School's class of 2000, and Lynette Feldman and Wendi Norton are co-salutatorians.

Shoemaker, the daughterry and Diana Shoemaker, Akron, graduated with a grade point average of 11.52 out of a possible 12. She is a member of National Honor Society, SADD, Sunshine Society, 4-H and Spanish Club. She was co-editor in chief of the school newspaper and worked on the yearbook staff.

A volunteer at Woodlawn Hospital, she also received their auxiliary scholarship and was a Hoosier Scholar and a recipient of the Indiana State University presidential scholarship, Marine's Scholastic Achievement Award, Science Department Award and Prudential Spirit of the Community Award.

She plans to participate in the Rural Health Program at Indiana State University, where she will be a pre-med major.

Co-salutatorian Lynette Feldman, of Rochester, graduated with a GPA of 11.4. She is a member of National Honor Society, SADD, yearbook and newspaper staffs and Sunshine Society.

Feldman is the daughter of Charles and Deloris Feldman. She has been named to "Who's Who Among American High School Students" and received a Presidential Scholarship.

She plans to attend Grace College and major in elementary education.

Wendi Norton, co-salutatorian, is the daughter of Steve and Tamra Norton, Mentone. She is a member of National Honor Society, concert and pep bands, Art Club, Sunshine Society and yearbook staff, and was the cartoonist for the school newspaper.

She was named the top outstanding art student, and received Art Club, Iota Xi and St. Francis art scholarships. She also won second place in the state Project XL and was a Scholastics Art Key winner.
