Tippecanoe Valley Names Top Students

AKRON - Tippecanoe Valley High School recently announced Sara Lynn Zehr as its Class of 2003 valedictorian and Jenna Gross, salutatorian.

Zehr is the daughter of Cliff and Cindy Zehr, Silver Lake. She plans to attend Indiana Wesleyan University.

Zehr was a four-year member of the cross country and track teams and a three-year member of the basketball team. A four-year member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, she also was a three-year member of student government, serving as secretary her senior year, and served as president of National Honor Society, of which she was a member for two years. In addition, she was a member of the Spanish Club (three years), Sunshine Society (one year), Varsity Club (three years), weightlifting club (one year) and Peers Educating Peers (one year). She was active in the Olive Branch Church of God youth group.

Gross is the daughter of Jerry and Jill Gross and plans to attend Butler University where she will study chemistry/pre-med.

She was a varsity cheerleader during her entire high school career and a member of varsity track from her freshman to junior years. She studied ballet for 14 years at Debra Collier's School of Dance. She was a representative on student government from grades 10-12 and was a member of FCA, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Sunshine Society, French Club and Varsity Club, served as a historian for NHS and was a school board liaision and on the prom committee.

She received several academic awards, including the Purdue Junior Scholar Award for Chemistry in 2002 and Outstanding Students of America 2002-03. Her volunteer work included helping at Power Pak, Jack and Jill Preschool, Our Father's House, Helping Hands, Cardinal Center and KCH. She served as a library page for two years and was a lifeguard her sophomore through senior years. [[In-content Ad]]
