By Staff Report-

According to Jerry Gibson, Construction Control, the approximate schedule for building the new Jefferson school and enlarging Claypool Elementary would be:

December 2003 - Preliminary design and planning

March 2004 - Design developmental drawings presented to school board

September 2004 - Final documents presented to board

October 2004 - Bids

November 2004 - Construction starts

September 2006 - Earliest occupancy in new buildings

If weather prevents the start of construction in November, Gibson said, it would begin in March 2005, and occupancy would be delayed to November 2006.

Maximum cost to build the two schools is projected to be $30 million, which the school corporation will finance through the capital projects fund, common school fund loan, general obligation bond issue or building corporation bond issue.

The $30 million for the two schools is in addition to $30 million already bonded to pay for the Warsaw Community High School football stadium, weight and wrestling room, auditorium and cafeteria renovations and an addition to the administration office. [[In-content Ad]]
